It’s dark, darker than you’ve ever seen before, than you’ve ever felt before. As you grope blindly in the murk, you try to remember what has brought you here. Where were you before this? Maybe cutting the grass, taking a shower, out on the field winning that game that would decide your future, buried in paperwork? Maybe you were about to put a bullet through some creature’s head or you were the creature, fighting for your life? Maybe you were minding your own business on some space ship? Everybody here has a start to their story, but all of us know where we’ll end. And you realize it too, just as your hand hits the wall. Rough and strong beneath your touch. Stone.
I bet you’re freaking out and that’s always a good plan. But what about this: let’s say you don’t freak out. What then? No one can tell you how you got here or why. Don’t even bother with those questions. But they do say if you can get out of this place that you get to go home. I wouldn’t know. No one has ever made it, or if they have, they certainly haven’t come back. I know that I don’t care. It’s a sick game being played here and I’m folding.
Cannibals wander the tunnels, walking among wolves and vampires, aliens too, but at least fewer of them tend to want to eat you. They all want to kill you though. This place has little food and only one source of fresh water. There is no way it can support all of us and more are coming in every day. I’m not sure how much longer I can keep this up. Maybe you can take my place? Somebody certainly will.
